Taita Hills is part of the Eastern Arc Mountain that also stretches into Tanzania. The iconic forest and rock formation are beautiful contrasts to the neighboring Tsavo plains. The view from Taita highest point Vuria is breathtaking. The forest is home to Taita birds and the guide will help you to identify them. Bird watchers will have their best days here. The Trail The trail is majorly forest protected area with beautiful rock formations. The distances per day will be 10-15km.
Brief Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi to Ngangao Forest
We set camp at Ngaongao town center. The forest has a rich bird life and myriad of indegeous tree. The forest is also home to Taita Hills mother tree, she is quite a site. The 2nd highest point in the Taita Hills the massive rocks are a must visit and a day excursion up reward us with views of Vuria, Kasigau and on a clear day Mt. Kilimanjaro. We head back to Ngaongao camp later in the evening and we take our diner and prepare for the next day.
Day 2 Ngangao Forest – Vuria Explore – Nairobi
In the morning after breakfast, we head for the highest point in the Coastal region, Vuria. We crown our moments in Taita with a final push to the highest point. Again our efforts are rewarded with even more magical views. The Taita plains below this is a beautiful way to bid the hills good bye. We head back to camp, freshen up and leave for Nairobi expected to arrive in the evening.
